Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience
  • 2+ years of experience with external-facing API products
  • Proven track record of delivering great products end-to-end from strategy through execution
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize ruthlessly, and execute methodically
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for a variety of audiences with a wide range of technical skill levels

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple engineering teams to develop enhancements to label and rating products, as well as API onboarding
  • In partnership with engineering, create and grow a clear abstraction of carrier capabilities
  • Research API customers’ pain points and shipping strategies, and classify how the product does or does not meet their needs
  • Continuously publish research, including competitor announcements, market analysis and trends
  • Develop a long-term roadmap for core product areas backed by research
  • Collaborate with other product and engineering teams to build high quality, scalable solutions
  • Understand and own the shipping domain; empathize deeply with merchants to understand their challenges and model how they ship goods to consumers; contextualize insights to determine the most important problems worth solving
  • Understand how services are offered as a SaaS platform; empathize deeply with developers to understand their integration challenges; contextualize insights to determine the most important problems worth solving
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for Label and Rating APIs
  • Plan and release features and services that enable customers of all types and sizes to fulfill their orders
  • Champion customers (shippers and external developers) with strategy driven by customer empathy and business acumen
  • Define success metrics rooted in customer adoption and business impact
  • Make difficult prioritization decisions based on customer and business impact, known variables and unknown assumptions, and company strategy
  • Develop a strong strategic view of the suite of API products and how they must change to maximize value
  • Keep teammates aligned and leverage communication skills to align individuals across Shippo, carrier partnerships, customer success, strategic partnerships, and senior leadership
  • Engage deeply with engineering partners to identify areas of optimization through process or technology and absorb them into the roadmap
