Ashby is seeking a Senior Product Manager to report directly to the Co-Founder and CEO, Benji. The company believes in a product development approach where engineers own significant aspects typically handled by PMs, allowing PMs to focus on product prioritization, strategy, and ensuring excellent execution. Key skills sought are product taste and user empathy. The role will contribute to scaling Ashby's product approach as the company expands its product footprint. Ashby serves over 2,500 customers, including OpenAI, Snowflake, and Shopify.

The Problem Ashby Solves

Ashby's current product offering includes ATS, CRM, Scheduling Automation, and Analytics, with an aim to be "all-in-one and best-in class." This has been achieved by creating leverage through reusable modules, optimizing team time, and maximizing engineer ownership. The company focuses on customizability and power user features while maintaining ease of use. Future plans involve adding multiple new products, requiring a balance between reusable building blocks and feature-specific behavior, and blending enterprise customizability with ease of use. The goal is to continuously delight users, maintaining the positive feedback received about the current ATS.

Your Role

In the long term, the Senior Product Manager will own the roadmap for a significant portion of Ashby's existing modules and contribute to the overall product strategy, impacting product velocity and quality. In the short term, the role involves close collaboration with the CEO, focusing on the execution of individual projects to gain familiarity with the space, customers, and Ashby's product development process. With engineers having substantial product ownership and autonomy, the PM can concentrate on high-leverage activities rather than detailed user stories or sprint management, as Ashby employs a low-process approach for Product/Engineering. The ultimate responsibility lies in selecting the right priorities and ensuring excellent execution in both product quality and velocity.

Ideal candidates may have prior founder experience or aspire to be founders, but Ashby is open to evaluating candidates from diverse backgrounds. The current PM team includes individuals with experience in engineering, design, data leadership, support, and founding companies.

Candidate Profile

You could be a great fit if you possess:

  • Unnatural curiosity and excitement about end-users and their jobs.
  • An Engineering mindset for product problems, with the ability to think through edge cases and understand platform extension for leverage.
  • Demonstrated taste, indicating a care for the quality of products built and used.
  • Excellent writing and synthesizing skills, bringing product knowledge and clarity to the organization and enabling engineers with product insights.
  • The ability to build a thesis for prioritization and communicate it using a sound strategy.
