About the Team and the Role

The OneExperience team within eBay’s Core Product Design organization is a comprehensive, cross-functional design team excelling in taste-making, strategy, design systems, visual design, experience design, content creation, and motion design. Dedicated to creating cohesive and innovative design solutions, we focus on evolving our product and brand experience to achieve higher levels of consistency and innovation for our current and future eBay customers.

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Systems Designer to join our Design Systems team at eBay, where you will play a pivotal role in crafting and evolving the design system and visual language that powers the eBay experience. Your expertise in visual design, interaction design, and systems design will be instrumental in ensuring our design systems are not only scalable, accessible, and maintainable but also aesthetically exceptional and functionally superior.

You will infuse elegance and functionality into our design guidelines, patterns, and libraries, making them a cornerstone for intuitive and delightful experiences across all eBay platforms. Your work will ensure that our design systems are implemented effectively, with new components and patterns that set the standard for experience design. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers, you will ensure that our design systems meet and exceed the expectations of eBay customers.

This role reports to the Head of Design Systems in the Core Product Organization.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Develop and refine eBay's design system by integrating visual design, interaction design, and systems thinking to create intuitive, user-friendly design guidelines, patterns, and libraries that enhance product efficiency and aesthetic appeal.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers, developers, and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of the design system across all eBay products, while also incorporating feedback and research to iterate and improve the system.
  • Prototype and deliver high-fidelity visuals that demonstrate the design system's capabilities, ensuring components and templates are adaptable to various eBay experiences and maintain a high standard of design excellence.
  • Mentor fellow designers on the strategic use of the design system and stay abreast of industry trends to continuously evolve the system, ensuring it meets the needs of eBay customers and aligns with the latest design innovations.

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Visual Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, with a focus on design systems.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, or Framer.
  • Familiarity with advanced prototyping tools such as Proto.io, Rive, or Play.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies and a collaborative, iterative design process.
  • Familiarity with front-end development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to inform design decisions and collaboration.
