Requirements

  • Degree in law, policy, or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or public policy with a focus on the consumer tech space
  • Built meaningful relationships within Japanese government ministries, regulatory agencies, and industry bodies
  • Deep understanding of Japanese legislative and regulatory processes, particularly in technology, consumer protection, and digital policy
  • Demonstrated success in shaping policy outcomes and managing complex advocacy campaigns
  • Native Japanese speaker and fluent in English (proficiency in Korean is a plus)
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively
  • Willingness to travel on occasion
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and global environment, and to contribute to business goals by identifying and anticipating policy and regulatory opportunities and risks
  • English-Japanese bilingual

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement government relations strategies to advance Match Group’s business and policy objectives in Japan
  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and political developments impacting Match Group
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and civil society
  • Represent Match Group’s positions directly with national and local stakeholders, as well as through coalitions and trade associations
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between company executives and government or industry leaders
  • Design and execute advocacy campaigns and programs with various stakeholders, including public sector officials, NGOs, and aligned industries
  • Develop and cultivate a network of trusted third-party validators and advocates to amplify and advance advocacy positions across key audiences
  • Partner with internal teams (Business, Legal, Communications, Safety) and external consultants to ensure coordinated, impactful policy advocacy
  • Represent Match Group at industry events, policy forums, and in coalitions to enhance the company’s profile as a trusted partner
  • Contribute to the development of policy positions, white papers, and consultation responses on key issues relevant to Japan
