The focus of this role is to collaborate with numerous stakeholders to generate and communicate evidence that will impact the access to the innovative Medtronic Diabetes Devices and Systems. Role Overview

The Sr. Health Economics & Outcomes Research Specialist will provide strategic direction to develop a key component of the US Market Access plan for the innovative products in Diabetes Operating Unit (OU). In addition, the Sr. HEOR specialist will generate evidence that will impact Market Access decisions regarding Medtronic Diabetes devices.

The successful candidate will provide support on the design, execution, and dissemination of HEOR studies to meet the business evidence strategy needs. In this role, you will advise and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including reimbursement, healthcare policy, marketing, payer marketing, medical affairs, and other functions. Responsibilities may include providing input on clinical trial design, Real World Evidence (RWE) generation and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the other functions within the Market Access team to support the development of evidence that will improve the understanding of the treatment of diabetes and will demonstrate the value of Medtronic’s extensive diabetes profile.
  • The data generated should inform strategic internal decisions as well as Health Care Decision Makers (HCDMs) to communicate the value of devices and therapeutics within the Medtronic Diabetes OU.
  • Develops US specific evidence to meet requirements for optimal reimbursement coverage and usage.
  • Collaborates closely with reimbursement experts within the HEPR team to identify evidence needed and synergies.
  • Designs and implements observational and economic research studies or economic models that provide value, perspective and evidence for clinical and/or pre-clinical product portfolio decisions, marketing, regulatory agency submissions, and product reimbursement strategies.
  • Conducts both systematic and targeted literature searches that will be foundational to the development of Value Dossiers in the AMCP 5.0 format for specific products/therapies.
  • Compares and evaluates the value of Medtronic’s products and therapies versus the other products in the market basket with respect to the clinical, economic, and outcomes data from clinical trials and Real-World Evidence studies including, epidemiology studies, registries, observational studies, modeling, surveys, and meta-analysis.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Development team to ensure that an integrated evidence plan including Real-World Evidence is available at launch to support FDA approval and formulary coverage.
  • Provides strategic support to the Diabetes business unit in the areas of health economics and claims data analysis.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the evidence needed to inform Health Care Decision Makers in order to ensure that the evidence generated by Medtronic is relevant for payers across all books of business including, Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, as well as those of CMS.
  • Prepares observational and economic research study results for dissemination via abstract, presentation, and/or peer-reviewed publication.
