  • 4+ years in technical leadership or engineering management roles
  • Proven success in implementing distributed microservices architectures
  • Proven success in implementing event-driven systems (Kafka)

Responsibilities

  • Lead a growing team of backend engineers and DevOps specialists, balancing coaching, technical guidance, and delivery oversight
  • Maintain a “hands-on” presence (~20%) to review architectures, debug critical issues, and validate technical approaches
  • Direct the design and delivery of distributed microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven systems
  • Ensure enterprise-grade code quality, secure coding practices, and scalable design patterns (DDD, reactive programming)
  • Drive performance optimization, ensuring p95/p99 latency targets are consistently met
  • Define standards for Infrastructure-as-Code, Kubernetes orchestration (multi-region, HA clusters), and service meshes
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies (blue/green, canary), leveraging modern toolchains
  • Ensure observability and performance monitoring across the stack (metrics, logging, tracing)
  • Partner with Security to ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards
  • Partner with Product, Data, and Security leaders to shape platform roadmaps
  • Identify capability gaps, lead architectural reviews, and drive build vs. buy decisions
  • Balance scalability, reliability, security, and cost optimization across cloud deployments
