Requirements

  • Ability to lead the Supplier Capabilities Team to define and align on ways of working throughout the supplier lifecycle

  • Skills in determining Supplier Capabilities Team structure to effectively leverage the team for capabilities work
  • Experience scoping existing supplier development content and leading cross-functional teams to align on content, process, and ways of working
  • Knowledge to determine content and processes based on supplier maturity, category, and location
  • Proficiency in supplier vetting and prequalification processes for new Sourcing & Procurement suppliers
  • Capability to lead ways of working between teams such as market development, Q&A, and category teams
  • Experience directing private brand supplier outreach and development, including planning events, pre-screening, liaison roles, action plans, meetings, certifications, and training on Walmart tools
  • Strategic leadership skills to provide overall direction for supplier capabilities, including analyzing business objectives, developing strategies, managing costs/forecasts, resource allocation, process evaluation, outcome measurement, improvement identification, and promoting customer-focused environments
  • Ability to oversee supplier development measurement, analyzing reports for trends on Walmart spend, sales impact, and opportunities in geographies of excellence
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Supplier Capabilities Team to define and align on ways of working throughout the supplier lifecycle to create a best-in-class supplier development process for new and strategic private brand suppliers
  • Lead content, education creation, and processes for identified suppliers to become Walmart ready, including customization for geographies of excellence
  • Determine Supplier Capabilities Team structure to most effectively leverage the team to create and deploy capabilities work
  • Scope all existing supplier development content and lead the cross-functional team to align on content, process, and ways of working for supplier development
  • Determine the content and process that suppliers will experience based on supplier maturity, category, and location
  • Manage supplier vetting and prequalification process for all new Sourcing & Procurement suppliers
  • Lead the ways of working between respective teams (e.g., market development teams, Q&A, category teams)
  • Direct private brand supplier outreach and development by planning and executing events; pre-screening potential suppliers; serving as liaison between suppliers and merchants; developing and updating tactical action plans; coordinating meetings; ensuring suppliers have appropriate certifications; and training new diverse suppliers on Walmart tools
  • Provide overall direction for supplier capabilities throughout the company by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts; determining resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes; identifying improvement opportunities; promoting a customer-focused environment; and sponsoring continuous learning
  • Oversee supplier development measurement for area of focus by analyzing reports to identify trends on Walmart spend with current suppliers; tracking sales impact; and identifying areas to increase spend within geographies of excellence
