Requirements

  • Strong background in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering
  • Deep experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments
  • Hands-on expertise with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices
  • Solid scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with the VA ecosystem—especially VA Platform One, enterprise GitHub practices, VA.gov standards, or DevSecOps models— is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage dependencies, and deliver in complex environments
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Drive reliability, observability, and automation across large-scale hybrid cloud environments
  • Improve uptime, reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR), streamline incident management, and support large-scale cloud migrations
  • Work across Azure, AWS, and on-prem environments, building resilient infrastructure
  • Ensure mission-critical applications meet strict availability and performance standards
  • Develop and maintain monitoring/observability tools and infrastructure-as-code solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code best practices
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
