Candidates must have 7+ years of experience with relational database systems, including at least 3 years in a senior, lead, or architect role. A minimum of 2 years in a DBRE or SRE role is required, along with experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Proficiency in coding and automation is essential, as is experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible and Terraform, and source control systems like Git. SQL Server experience is preferred, while MySQL and PostgreSQL are considered nice-to-haves. The Senior Database Reliability Engineer is responsible for managing, building, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting cloud-based database infrastructure for mission-critical SaaS applications. This role involves improving processes through automation and coding to reduce toil and liaising with engineering and SRE teams to support new product launches requiring database support. Key duties include working on the observability of database metrics to meet objectives, collaborating with the DBA team to implement automation and processes for managing database systems at scale, and adopting a data-driven approach for performance and availability improvements. The engineer will provide database expertise to other teams, including reviewing database migrations, queries, performance optimizations, and standardizing configurations and deployments. Additionally, they will assist the DBA team with performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
