Senior Data Scientist - E-commerce Search

CVS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team and revolutionize our e-commerce search experience. You will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative Neural Networks, kNN, natural language processing (NLP), learn-to-rank (LTR) solutions to power our search engine, ensuring our customers find the products they need quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to improve search relevance, ranking, and personalization.
• Analyze large-scale user interaction data to identify opportunities for improving search performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate ML models into production search systems using Elasticsearch.
• Conduct A/B testing and performance evaluation of search algorithms and features.
• Develop NLP and deep learning models to enhance query understanding, product categorization, and semantic search.
• Drive innovation in AI-powered search features such as autocomplete, spell correction, and recommendation systems.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to best practices in data science and ML engineering.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a preference for at least 2 of those years working in a Data Scientist capacity.
• 2+ years developing and implementing Neural Networks, kNN, natural language processing (NLP), learn-to-rank (LTR) solutions in a production environment.
• Deep understanding of various LTR algorithms, including LambdaMART, RankNet, and LightGBM.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Experience working with large datasets and developing scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with A/B testing and data analysis for measuring model performance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with eCommerce platforms and user behavior modeling.
• Familiarity with LLMs and generative AI applications in search.
• Passion for e-commerce and a deep understanding of user behavior.
• Knowledge of MLOps practices and model deployment pipelines.
• Contributions to open-source search or ML projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
