Requirements

Candidates must reside in Ontario and possess a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with over 8 years of relevant industry experience. A strong foundation in mathematics, machine learning, and statistics is required, along with production-level experience in building and maintaining ML models, applying NLP analysis on large-scale datasets, and integrating them into big data processing pipelines. Proficiency in modern ML frameworks and libraries, along with strong coding skills in at least one programming language and a good understanding of distributed computing/algorithms, is essential. The ability to translate high-level business requirements into actionable designs and solutions, coupled with creative thinking, is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior Data Scientist will design, train, and maintain machine learning models to address complex e-commerce challenges, contributing to the development of data backends for applications that assist businesses in onboarding, managing inventory, and growing on the eBay platform. Key accomplishments include building similarity models through text/feature analysis on large datasets, performing item classification based on textual and numerical metrics across massive datasets, extracting text features, designing adaptive outlier removal/noise filtering algorithms, and conducting time-series data analytics to detect seasonality patterns.
