Requirements

4+ years experience as a data scientist or data analyst independently extracting meaning from big data sets with little engineering support
Mastery of SQL and proficiency in R/Python
Passionate about trying new approaches to advance technical skills
Bonus: Experience with Spark and Looker, Tableau, or other data visualization software
Deep understanding of experimentation theory and practice
Specialize in sophisticated analyses and regularly use statistical methods
Ability to distill highly complex problems into concise, actionable, and memorable narratives and express recommendations clearly
Presence in Etsy’s Mexico City Office once or twice per week (candidates within commutable distance preferred)

Responsibilities

Partner with the Growth group to support long-term buyer LTV through strategic offers and tactics driving retention and frequency
Play a meaningful role in deciding how to best engage and grow Etsy users through analysis of behavioral and transactional data
Design and analyze rigorous experiments, help teams set great hypotheses, and deliver robust analysis of experiment results
Transform raw data into meaningful and impactful analysis with strong data governance, technique transparency, and clear documentation
Raise the skill level of the entire analytics team through outstanding work, mentorship, and introduction of better practices, processes, and tools
Collaborate with partner teams through all stages of development: uncovering opportunity areas, crafting experiments, analyzing impacts, and highlighting takeaways
Guide partner teams with data and insights, telling the story of user attraction and retention to teams, senior management, and the community
