Senior Data Scientist

Position Overview

Dataiku is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team. This role is unique in that our Data Scientists not only develop solutions to real-world problems but also engage directly with clients throughout their journey with Dataiku. This includes supporting platform discovery, integrating Dataiku with other tools, providing user training, and co-developing data science projects from conception to deployment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Project Development: Scope and co-develop production-level data science projects with customers across various industries and use cases.
  • Client Enablement: Assist users in discovering and mastering the Dataiku platform through training, office hours, and ongoing consultative support.
  • Strategic Input: Provide strategic recommendations to customers and account teams to ensure customer success.
  • Data Science Expertise: Offer data science expertise to both customers and internal Dataiku sales and marketing teams.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Lead technical data science projects in pre-sales, including scoping and designing proposals.
  • Risk Management: Identify and communicate technical and non-technical account risks (e.g., onboarding issues, performance bottlenecks, timeline slippage).
  • Platform Enhancement: Develop custom Python-based "plugins" in collaboration with Solutions, R&D, and Product teams to extend Dataiku's capabilities.
  • Engagement Leadership: Lead Data Scientist engagements by coordinating agile sprints, prioritizing tasks, estimating effort, and performing backlog grooming.
  • Event Participation: Conduct demo booth and tech talk duties at company events like "Everyday AI."
  • Team Development: Lead technical interviews for Junior Data Scientist candidates.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to two internal assets (internal best practices or external blog posts/projects for the public gallery) annually.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills:
    • Over 5 years of experience with Python and SQL.
    • Over 5 years of experience building Machine Learning (ML) models and utilizing ML tools (e.g., sklearn).
    • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
    • Experience with data visualization and building web applications using Python frameworks (Dash, Streamlit).
    • Understanding of underlying data systems, including Cloud architectures and SQL.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Curiosity and a strong desire to learn new topics and skills.
    • Empathy and eagerness to share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, customers, and the public.
    • Ability to clearly explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Location: Must be located in the East Coast or Central regions of the United States. Remote work is possible, with up to 20% client-based travel required.

  • Experience in the Manufacturing & Defense sector.
  • Experience with Data Engineering or MLOps.

Compensation and Benefits

The final compensation package will be determined during the interview process and will be based on factors such as geographic location, internal equity, education, skill set, experience, and training. Eligible roles may also be entitled to receive commission or other benefits.
