Position Overview

The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. This role involves moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Data Engineer ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing cloud-native platforms and software development best practices and patterns. Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enable Humana to better serve our members. Begins to influence department’s strategy and makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding the technical approach for project components. Work is performed without direction, and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in quantitative disciplines, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Technical Experience:
  • 3+ years of technical experience with data programming languages like SQL, R, and Python to support data wrangling.
  • 2+ years of experience with programming languages or technology applications that support automation such as SQL, R, and Python and/or PowerAutomate and Automation Anywhere (robotics).
  • 3+ years of experience with programming languages that support automation.
  • 3+ years of technical experience with report development, report automation, report scheduling, and development of self-service tools using technologies such as Tableau and PowerBI.
  • 1+ year of experience with report and/or application design (UI and UX).
  • Experience with data management practices.
• Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills.
• Travel: Occasional travel to the Market office for meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Advanced Degree in quantitative disciplines, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Industry Experience: Financial Services or Healthcare industry experience.
• Methodologies: Experience with Agile.
• Technical Skills:
  • Experience with programming interfaces and file transfer protocols such as APIs, FTPs, SFTPs.
  • Experience with full stack development.
