Jerry.ai is a fast-growing, pre-IPO startup aiming to revolutionize the $2T car ownership industry in the U.S. With significant funding and rapid revenue growth, we are seeking driven individuals to scale our product. We are looking for a purpose-driven Senior Backend Engineer to work on a critical, stealth project within our DriveShield™ team, focusing on enhancing driver safety and making a real-world impact. You will be instrumental in building scalable and high-performance backend systems to support Jerry.ai's explosive growth, helping us transition from 5 million to 50 million customers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Proficient in at least one core language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript)
• Expertise in Kafka, Flink, and AWS
• Experience building stream processing applications
• Proven ability to ship products and features rapidly
• Startup experience at a high-growth company (nice to have)
• Previous knowledge of working with geospatial data (bonus)

Responsibilities

• Focus on non-functional requirements of backend applications, including service availability, scalability, reliability (fault tolerance), observability, and security.
• Oversee system design and architecture to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
• Develop and optimize stream processing applications using Kafka and Flink.
• Profile and optimize application performance.
• Focus on the application side, collaborating with data scientists to deploy and integrate models in production.
• Handle data processing, sanitization, validation, and data QA.
