Senior Analyst, Wirecutter

Salary: $101,000 - $110,000 USD

Location Type: Remote (with the option to work from NYC offices)

Position Overview

Wirecutter is seeking a Senior Analyst to leverage data and analytics to support world-class journalism and fulfill its vision of being the most trusted and loved service for product recommendations. This role will collaborate with newsroom and audience teams, providing powerful tools and analyses to uncover insights into audience growth and engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic and tactical mindset, capable of translating complex data into actionable recommendations that influence editorial, product, and overall business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to answer audience, content, and business questions, providing actionable, data-driven insights.
  • Communicate findings and translate them into recommended actions tailored for different business areas.
  • Democratize data and insights through the creation of data visualizations, dashboards, and tools to enhance data accessibility.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to apply data to solve complex business problems, optimize performance, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to the mission of seeking truth and helping people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL.
  • 3+ years of experience in analytical roles.
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization tools.
  • 2+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • 2+ years of experience applying statistics to business problems.
  • 2+ years of experience with A/B testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Google BigQuery or other big data environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with e-commerce and publisher analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience with audience and engagement analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience with Python & R.
  • 2+ years of experience with AI data products and large language models.
  • 2+ years of experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Chartio, or Looker.
