The Senior Accountant will support the company's accounting operations by maintaining precise financial records, conducting account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data and adherence to company policies. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with the accounting team and other departments to achieve the company's financial objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring their accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Post journal entries and ensure the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Review, classify, and record expenses, verifying alignment with company policies and budget guidelines.
  • Manage key accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Identify and propose process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or a minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, NetSuite) and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance processes, internal controls, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • High level of accuracy and analytical skills to ensure error-free financial records.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting discrepancies and inefficiencies.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company or public accounting firm is advantageous.
  • Experience in a start-up or fast-paced environment is a plus.
