Expertise in US GAAP and accounting principles
Strong knowledge of accounting internal control processes, financial reporting, and compliance with local, state, federal, and global regulations
Experience with month-end processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
Ability to research complex accounting and reporting issues
Functional subject matter expert capable of representing the regional Finance team on cross-functional projects
Strong communication and coordination skills with internal & external stakeholders, including auditors and tax compliance vendors

Responsibilities

Assist the North America Head of Finance in implementing strong accounting internal control processes
Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with regulations
Provide accounting input for senior management’s decision-making
Collaborate with Financial Shared Services and corporate partners on preliminary due diligence, checks, balances, control, and month-end processes (journal entries, reconciliations, accurate monthly accounts for US and Canada entities)
Ensure books are closed accurately and within target dates
Serve as key point of contact for leaders and business partners on accounting topics and as Controller of accounting principles for North America
Implement or improve processes, financial reporting reviews, and reconciliations, ensuring transactions are recorded per US GAAP and statutory statements reconcile with group GAAP reports
Manage legal entity and regional management accounting
Ensure tax considerations are built into transaction records
Manage relationships with external tax accountants; ensure taxes are filed and escrows funded timely
Participate in preparation of basic financial reports, statistical reports, final accounts, and other company reports
Ensure accounting policies are compliant and monitor accounting rule changes
Work closely with North America Head of Finance on all financial matters and with finance support teams (Shared Services, Revenue Assurance, Purchase to Pay, Cost Assurance, Treasury)
Support analysis and approval of annual financial statements, tax returns, and other financial documents
