Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Food or Chemical, and have at least 5 years of experience in process development or operations technical support within the CPG industry, with a preference for food/beverage experience. Required skills include food processing knowledge, experience in a manufacturing environment, proficiency in planning and executing designed experiments (DOE), and the ability to communicate results effectively to all organizational levels. Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit is necessary for designing and revising technical drawings. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including independent presentation delivery, are essential, along with strong organizational, critical thinking, and creativity skills. The role requires the ability to function as a technical leader in process engineering within multifunctional teams, providing leadership across functional boundaries, and project management experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

The Scientist Process Engineering Research & Development will lead and perform applied research and development experiments, including planning, data generation, and analysis, to provide recommendations to cross-functional teams. They will serve as the process engineering lead for Sweet Baked Snacks formats, contributing input to project briefs. Responsibilities include leading the development, scale-up, and commercialization of Innovation, Renovation, and Value Engineering initiatives, as well as developing commissioning plans and supporting the qualification of new and existing process technologies. The role involves applying fundamental engineering principles for decision-making and knowledge capture, designing tooling and process equipment using CAD, and interfacing with suppliers and business functions. This position requires designing and executing experiments in various settings, validating improvements, summarizing trial results, and providing updates to stakeholders. Additionally, the scientist will actively participate in cross-functional project teams to scale processes to commercial production and perform other assigned R&D duties.
