About the Role

We are seeking Applied Research Scientists to develop cutting-edge computer vision and generative models for our creative tools. Ideal candidates possess a strong background in building impactful and novel machine learning projects, robust software engineering skills, and a deep interest in seeing their research materialize in user interfaces for creative tasks. This role is within a cross-functional team, requiring strong communication and collaboration skills. You will work with our backend team to productionize research models and with our design and frontend engineering team to ensure seamless integration with user interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative research projects in computer vision, with a focus on generative models for image and video.
• Build new computer vision pipelines for automating visual effects tasks, such as video segmentation, pinpointing, and tracking.
• Collaborate with a world-class engineering team pushing the boundaries of content creation within the browser.
• Work closely with the product organization to bring cutting-edge machine learning models to production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant engineering or research experience in machine learning, computer vision, and/or graphics.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, C++, CUDA, and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Very strong programming skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable research code.
• Deep interest in building human-in-the-loop systems for creativity.
• Passion for seeing research through from initial conception to eventual application.
• Experience mentoring and teaching other researchers.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $260,000 - $370,000 (U.S. based)
• Runway offers a comprehensive compensation package, with salary determined by factors such as relevant experience, skill level, qualifications assessed during the interview process, and internal equity. Salary ranges may vary for candidates outside of the U.S.
