Requirements

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences from an accredited college or university
  • Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (Generalist or CGMBS) required to perform laboratory testing
  • 2 years of pertinent laboratory experience, preferably in a high complexity laboratory performing molecular or NGS testing
  • Utilization of systems for data entry, retrieval, and analyses including word processing programs, spreadsheets with data analyses, and intricate computer-based instrumentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve data analyses
  • Strong understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to handle highly infectious agents and hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods while using equipment and specimen handling and/or for computer work
  • Ability to bend or twist to reach into lower cabinets and drawers and squat or kneel to remove or store supplies on lower shelves
  • Ability to stretch and overhead arm movements to reach into high cabinets and shelves to remove supplies
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to distinguish colors for analysis
  • Ability to hear equipment timers and alarms
  • Fine hand manipulation for equipment and pipette operation

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory analyses involving sample receiving, processing, and result reporting
  • Ensure instruments and equipment in the clinical lab are functioning accurately and maintained by performing or arranging scheduled maintenance in a timely manner
  • Participate in proficiency testing
  • Provide training to other clinical laboratory personnel
  • Apply good documentation practices (GDPs) and follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance policies
  • Coordinate and lead laboratory assistants
  • Align with Life Technologies Clinical Services Lab safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure inventory of clinical laboratory supplies and materials are available to complete required job functions
  • Other duties as assigned
