Requirements

MS in life sciences and/or chemistry; PhD strongly preferred
2–3 years scientific copywriting experience
Proficient to detailed understanding of scientific and technical content
Unerring precision in brand-, voice-, and tone-correct writing with extraordinary attention to detail
Flexibility in writing and editing style, from basic grammatical repairs to deep-dive editorial passes
Ability to balance speed with quality while meeting aggressive deadlines
Strong communication, interpersonal, and social skills
Understanding of customer and industry trends and marketing standard processes for digital and traditional media
Strong scientific copywriting/copy editing background focusing on concise content, guidelines adherence, accurate trademark usage, grammar, punctuation, and consistent approach across marketing materials
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite
Deep knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) and CSE Scientific Style and Format style guides
Ability to perform fact-checking as needed

Responsibilities

Craft scientifically accurate technical and marketing communications across multiple channels consistent with brand standards, exemplifying best practices in writing for multiple mediums and interacting with internal partners
Develop scientific copy that conforms to layout and design parameters while maintaining consistent voice and style of each brand
Support creative team with expertise during brainstorming and development of dynamic, compelling, and scientifically accurate creative concepts
Collaborate with diverse teams to translate strategies from briefs and work orders into engaging content and copy for various clients, championing best practices
Proofread, edit, and provide detailed feedback on other writers’ work regarding content accuracy, grammatical accuracy, adherence to style/usage/brand standards, and overall effectiveness
Work on multiple concurrent projects, completing deliverables on time while upholding highest standards of quality and creativity
Continuously build institutional knowledge of the company, its products, markets, competitors’ positions/practices, and stay current with retail/copy style/editorial trends to inform marketing communications
