Requirements

  • Ability to co-teach ELA (9th: Theory of Intelligence, 10th: Critical Media Analysis, 11th: Personal Statement Writing) and Advisory periods for 9th-11th grade high school students
  • Comfortable with 100% online, bichronous instruction via Zoom
  • Availability for synchronous Saturday Academy sessions (8:45am-2:15pm) on specified dates in February-May
  • Availability for asynchronous academic support, including office hours and engaging with student work on specified Wednesdays (6-7pm)
  • Complete 10 hours of self-guided asynchronous instructor training prior to programming start
  • Attend instructor orientations (e.g., 02/05, 5:30-8:00pm) and all scheduled meetings, professional development, check-ins, and debriefs
  • Proficiency in navigating instructional technologies: Brightspace (LMS), Nearpod, G-Suite, Zoom chat in a blended learning environment
  • Responsiveness to emails, Zoom chats, coaching, and feedback (meet with instructional coach at least twice per semester)

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory; lead class independently when covering for others
  • Follow provided lesson plans, meet objectives, and adhere to SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
  • Read, internalize, practice lesson plans/materials prior to teaching; adjust pacing/activities based on student needs
  • Host open-door lunch tutoring sessions for skill review, makeup work, or skill development
  • Project energetic, engaging, approachable persona to foster student connection, investment, and positive community relationships
  • Collaborate with SEO staff and instructors by attending meetings/trainings and responding timely to communications
