The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements for advanced reactor licensing and a passion for clean energy and advanced fission technologies. They should be a quick learner, comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, and capable of creative, critical, and reflective thinking. Excellent writing skills, particularly in modern active voice, and the ability to communicate technical content verbally to a broad audience are essential. The candidate must be self-motivated, a team player, and detail-oriented, with a preference for efficiency over excessive process.
The Regulatory Engineer will navigate the regulatory framework for licensing advanced fission technologies and participate in the engineering design of these technologies. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and maintaining licensing documentation such as the Final Safety Analysis Report, planning and performing complex assignments in a team environment, and supporting or managing deliverables for regulatory activities. The role also involves interfacing with technical engineering, reviewing technical material, performing design engineering work, providing technical feedback to design teams, documenting work, and writing technical reports. Additionally, the engineer will support or lead the resolution of key strategic licensing issues.
