Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Medical Assistant
LPN: Active license in the state of practice from Board of Nursing required upon hire
Medical Assistant: One of the following certifications - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - NHA; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AMCA; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AAMA; Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - AMT; National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency
Knowledge of principles of growth and development and ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department

Responsibilities

Coordinating patient care activities in the clinic
Rooming patients, taking vitals, scheduling appointments, assisting with procedures, and order entry
Triaging phone calls from patients and caregivers, routing to appropriate individual if needed
Performing general nursing care to patients
Administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
Preparing equipment and assisting provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
Observing, recording, and reporting patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider
Overseeing appointment scheduling and ensuring preferences to patients in emergency situations; maintaining timely patient flow
Greeting patients, preparing for physical examination, screening for health history, taking vitals, conducting nursing assessment, and documenting in patient chart
Instructing patients in collection of samples and tests
Responding to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician
Educating patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and health/wellness maintenance
Suggesting solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints
Maintaining exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; ensuring cleanliness; preparing list of medical supplies needed
Assuring appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocols
Communicating with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care
Working collaboratively with clinic staff to solve practice-related problems
