Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Board of Nursing - active license in the state of practice upon hire
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work rotating shifts: days/evenings/nights/weekends (6am-6:30pm or 6:30pm-6am), PRN as needed
  • Preferred: 1-3 years experience working in a clinical or long-term care setting

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends
  • Provides resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans to the health care team, coordinating with other providers, and conferring with physicians
  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining residents, documenting physical condition, psychological status, and social factors, conferring with family and friends, and establishing diagnoses, objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables
  • Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing care goals, instructing residents, families, and friends on conditions, medications, and self-care skills, answering questions, and providing resources
  • Evaluates resident care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing records, noting changing conditions, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying care plans
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy resident care environment by following infection-control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations; alerting others to potential concerns
  • Keeps resident care equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
  • Keeps resident care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing/expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items
  • Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from the facility
  • Directs, plans, and coordinates workflow of nursing assistants and other nursing personnel
  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership
