Requirements

Active RN license in the state of practice (for RN)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) upon hire, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) upon hire, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) upon hire, or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) upon hire, or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) upon hire (for MA)
Preferred: Associate's graduate of Medical Assistant program or diploma (for MA)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Knowledge of principles of growth and development and ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient's status
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department

Responsibilities

Provide professional nursing care to patients and families (RN)
Communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care (RN)
Perform selected medical assistant and clerical duties to assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency (MA)
Work collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems
Perform general nursing care to patients
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic
Prepare equipment and assist provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients
Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider
Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations; maintain timely flow of patients
Greet patients and prepare them for physical examination
Screen patients for appropriate information including obtaining health history and taking vitals; document in patient chart
Instruct patient in collection of samples and tests
Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician
Educate patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness
Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints
Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; ensure cleanliness; prepare list of medical supplies needed
Assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed
Perform quality control and maintain records on all lab testing

The overall pay range is $19.50 - $40.75, with actual pay dependent upon experience. Specific ranges are RN: $27.25 - $40.74, LPN: $22.00 - $31.00, and MA: $19.50 - $27.50.
