Registered Nurse (RN) - active license in the state of practice (Board of Nursing) upon hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Preferred: Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) - BONENT upon hire
Preferred: Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN) - BONENT upon hire
Preferred: Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) - NNCC upon hire
Preferred: Specialty Certification - ASHI upon hire
Preferred: Dialysis experience or critical care experience
Preferred: 1-3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse, plus an additional 3 months experience in each specific modality (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis)

Responsibilities

Performs and maintains knowledge and proficiency in technical skills for dialysis treatments
Provides oversight and delegation to department staff
Understands and ensures compliance related to water room equipment operation and function
Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, scope of care, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
Documents in the patient record according to departmental policy/procedure
Promotes and maintains documentation and an environment that is in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies, including CMS/ESRD-Renal Network, and Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts
Coordinates care of patients in collaboration with Medical Director, Nephrologist, patients, families, other nursing staff, and all ancillary departments
Acts as a patient/family advocate and collaborates with the patient, family, and health care providers in providing patient care
Identifies patient/family learning needs, develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients
Provides patient education related to the dialysis process and procedures, including care and management of dialysis accesses
