Job Description: Collecting Officer Team Leader

This role involves leading and managing a team of Collecting Officers who provide sample collection services within the South East region of the UK. The primary responsibility is to ensure efficient and legally defensible sample collection processes.

Requirements

• Training in all collection methodologies.
• Completion of corporate and Collecting Officer onboarding.
• Comprehensive understanding of all collection processes and documentation.
• Previous experience in management of remote workers.
• Previous experience of managing and resolving customer queries.
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
• IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Understanding of Health & Safety standards, including the Working Time Directive (WTD).

Responsibilities

• Provide a fully covered standby rota for the Collection Network Emergency Response Call Out Service.
• Participate in the Duty Manager rota (365 days a year), providing support and guidance to Collecting Officers and the CSC.
• Ensure collections are allocated to the closest, available, and appropriately trained Collecting Officers.
• Line manage Collecting Officers using trend data to reduce complaints, performance, and improve service provision.
• Conduct audits (scheduled and spot audits) for the team and support auditing other teams.
• Identify and support the recruitment of Collecting Officers.
• Manage stock and equipment, preventing excessive holdings and reducing waste.
• Ensure Collecting Officers meet Health & Safety standards.
• Conduct regular customer collections to maintain competency and provide training.
• Collect kit, equipment, and process Collecting Officers as leavers in the system.
