Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required prior to start date)
  • Hands-on industrial experience in pipefitting, welding, boiler making, rigging, civil, or other mechanical fields
  • 5 years of field experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment at petroleum, chemical, or other related process facilities
  • Ability to read and comprehend P&IDs, Equipment Drawings, Isometric Sketches, Procedures, Inspection Test Plans, Inspection Maintenance Plans, Loop Sheets, and Instrument Spec Sheets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Good communication skills for two-way communication with Maintenance Foreman and Operations
  • Team player
  • Good organizational, planning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, detail-oriented with ability to identify areas needing improvement
  • Physical ability to perform office and refinery tasks, including walking down jobs for scoping and planning, climbing stairs/ladders to 150 feet, carrying up to 50lbs, and wearing appropriate PPE
  • Ability to work Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, take occasional after-hours calls/assignments, and work extended hours, weekends, and holidays during turnarounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations with troubleshooting to proactively reduce maintenance backlog and resolve operational issues
  • Lead, mentor, and coach fellow employees on refinery process mechanical equipment issues or concerns
  • Develop detailed job plans, ordering material and/or equipment to execute routine maintenance work safely and economically
  • Perform all types of planning and inspection on refinery process mechanical equipment
  • Build job plans showing special instructions and required documentation (e.g., MOC information, QA/QC needs, P&IDs, spec sheets, required skill crafts and duration, specialty tools, equipment) and reserve or create purchase orders for necessary components
  • Plan and estimate multiple craft disciplines including paint, scaffolding, insulation, civil, pipefitting, boiler making, welding, rigging, QA/QC, and Inspection
  • Assist in optimizing warehouse stock by adding needed items and eliminating obsolete or unnecessary stock
  • Identify and coordinate onsite repairs by outside vendors when required
  • Act as a safety leader, including participating in toolbox safety meetings and ensuring MPC policies and practices are followed
  • Coordinate field work and backfill for Maintenance Foremen and Coordinators as needed
