Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, and at least 3 years of engineering experience, with nuclear experience being preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations, are required, along with demonstrated dependable and steadfast working behaviors while completing quality, accurate work within established deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, is also necessary, and software/programming experience is preferred. The ability to work odd and extended hours based on plant needs, and residing or relocating within site-specific ERO response time, are essential requirements.
The Reactor Engineer will monitor reactor core operation, perform applicable tests and surveillances, provide technical advice to the Operations crew, develop reactivity pans for power maneuvers, support/conduct start-up physics testing, perform new fuel receipt inspections and track special nuclear materials, analyze and plan fuel movements, prepare and review procedures, identify and investigate problems within the Corrective Action Program, interface with outside engineering and consulting service companies, and support fleet initiatives and all reactor sites as assigned by management. They will also perform Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned, work independently and in a team environment, and support operational effectiveness by interfacing with customers to identify needs and providing engineering solutions.
