Candidates must have proven experience as a Quest Designer or similar content design role on multiplayer, MMO, survival, or action titles. A strong understanding of narrative structure, pacing, and player motivation is required, along with demonstrated experience designing and implementing quest or event content in multiplayer settings. Proficiency with Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints and collaborative workflows, is essential, as is the ability to block out and prototype quest layouts in open-world spaces. Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills are also necessary.
The Quest Designer will design and implement quests and world events from concept to completion, scripting quest flows, gameplay logic, and dialogue using proprietary tools and Blueprints in Unreal Engine 5. They will block out layouts and place quest actors and gameplay objects across an open-world map. Collaboration with engineers, artists, and fellow designers to champion the quest vision and refine quest tools and tech is expected. The role also involves partnering with analytics, product, and user research to integrate player insights into quest iteration and balancing, documenting design requirements, and ensuring quests align with overarching narrative and gameplay goals. Regular iteration on pacing, challenge, flow, and rewards based on playtests and data is also a key responsibility.
