Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications in composite materials and quality control are a plus
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance within the composites industry. Experience in aerospace, defense, or maritime applications is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques. Proficiency in inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for data analysis
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex quality issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with changing priorities and deadlines
Physical: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., 4–8 hours/day), climb stairs or ladders occasionally, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed during inspections or audits
Physical: Manual dexterity to manipulate small parts and tools during product inspections and use related equipment

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols for composite manufacturing processes. Monitor and inspect composite materials and products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards
Identify areas for improvement within the composites shop and recommend solutions to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Collaborate with the production team to integrate best practices and new technologies
Conduct thorough inspections and testing of composite materials and finished components. Utilize advanced testing equipment and techniques to assess material properties, structural integrity, and performance
Maintain accurate records of quality assessments, test results, and inspection reports. Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics and issues, providing actionable insights and recommendations
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Stay updated on advancements in composite materials and quality control methodologies
Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to resolve quality issues, provide technical support, and contribute to the development of new composite materials and manufacturing techniques
Provide training and guidance to shop personnel on quality standards, best practices, and proper use of inspection tools and equipment
