QA Automation Engineer

Position Overview

Writer is seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to deliver a product used daily by tens of thousands of people. You will be instrumental in defining key quality KPIs and metrics, driving testing efforts, and leading our automation strategies to maintain the highest quality standards for all releases. This position reports to the Head of QA Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with development teams to create automation strategies and deployment processes.
• Integrate automation testing protocols with existing code and engineering processes.
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Perform automated and manual testing for Writer and its extensions/integrations.
• Maintain and improve automation frameworks.
• Troubleshoot effectively using QA process knowledge, quality management tools, and methodologies.
• Conduct operational and performance tests to ensure the environment meets functional requirements, user expectations, and performance specifications.
• Communicate clearly and concisely.
• Take initiative on assigned projects and tasks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of QA engineering experience.
• 2+ years of automated testing experience.
• Proven experience in building code-based automation frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with test automation using Selenium and Java, or Cypress and JavaScript.
• Experience with UI automation frameworks.
• Professional SaaS experience (B2B), specifically with customer and user-facing testing.
• Hands-on experience crafting test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
• Proficient in effort estimation, planning, prioritization, and time management.
• Proactive communication skills (synchronous and asynchronous).
• Flexible and positive attitude.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Playwright automation.
• API testing experience.
• Experience with Chrome extension automation.
