Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field is strongly desired
Previous Sales experience is highly desired
Basic command of making nutritional and feeding recommendations to Beef Cattle/Equine animal owners
Understanding of Animal husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines
General market and industry knowledge
Work/life experience in management and care of Horses and Cattle
Strong computer skills, including MS Office
Ability to be trained on ration balancing software (HerdSmart), Salesforce, etc
Solid public speaking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization and time management skills
High internal drive, a natural ability for relationship building, and leadership skills
Ability and drive to make multiple daily sales calls
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
Responsibilities
Calling on Beef Cattle, Equine, and Small Ruminant animal owners (with a primary focus on Cattle and Equine) to evaluate existing feeding programs and recommend nutritional programs
Making up to 25 farm calls per week to sell Purina products and programs, grow sales, and increase market share
Developing new prospects and making cold sales calls
Organizing and conducting educational meetings/events for 4H clubs, saddle clubs, vets, trainers, lifestyle show clubs, etc., to enhance Purina’s brand image and drive store traffic
Interacting with producers on farm, in all weather conditions, for walk-throughs and animal evaluations
Networking within the industry to build relationships and earn additional business
Providing accurate feeding and management recommendations
