Responsibilities

  • Strategic Purchasing
  • Supplier development and management in coordination with purchasing leadership at Balzers and other production sites
  • Continuation and optimization of category management / commodity groups
  • Review and optimization of procurement processes and order fulfillment interfaces
  • Scouting and evaluation of international suppliers with focus on optics components
  • Definition of requirements profile, scouting, and evaluation of mechanics suppliers related to assembly strategy in Europe and Asia
  • Definition of requirements profile, scouting, and evaluation of injection molding suppliers related to assembly strategy in Asia
  • Preparation and agreement of supplier agreements, QSVs, and SLAs
  • Preparation, price negotiation, and agreement of long-term supply contracts per internal Materion guidelines
  • Planning and conducting supplier audits with quality management, and continuous development of supplier management structure and processes
  • Contribution to cost reduction through initiatives with central company departments
  • Coaching colleagues on transitioning from operational to strategic purchasing
  • Expert coaching on company-specific optics topics
  • Operational Purchasing
  • Conducting RFQs, creating bid overviews, and forwarding (MOVE)
  • Negotiating prices and conditions
  • Processing orders including delivery monitoring, reminders, invoice checking, and approval
  • Administrative and technical handling of supplier complaints and coordination with internal/external parties
  • Master data maintenance (suppliers, purchasing articles, etc.) in IN:ERP
