Payroll Project Associate

Position Overview

At Homebase, we are building an app that empowers small businesses and their teams. We are seeking a motivated and organized Payroll Project Associate to join our fast-moving team. In this role, you will be instrumental in onboarding new customers to Homebase Payroll, transforming a complex process into a simple experience. You will be a key point of contact, demonstrating a proactive, customer-first approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding of new customers by gathering essential payroll data, including business information, employee details, and year-to-date pay history.
  • Guide customers through setup tasks in Homebase Payroll by following a structured onboarding checklist.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to clarify missing information and follow up with customers to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate records and update statuses in Salesforce and other internal systems.
  • Escalate customer inquiries, challenges, or payroll-specific issues to the appropriate lead or senior specialist.
  • Participate in customer calls to provide guidance on basic setup steps, such as adding employees or running initial payrolls (comprehensive training will be provided).
  • Send follow-up summaries and outline next steps for customers, utilizing provided templates and guidance.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience in a customer-facing or administrative role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a preference for structured processes (e.g., checklists).
  • Excellent written communication skills and comfort with phone-based interactions.
  • Ability to learn new tools and systems quickly.
  • A genuine interest in understanding payroll processes; prior payroll experience is not required as training will be provided.
  • Ability to work from a Homebase hub office 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday).
