Requirements

Experience making product decisions and driving a team forward, whether as an Engineer in the past or as a Product Designer
Experience with SaaS product monetization and pricing as a builder of a subscription product
Understand the technical landscape of developer tools; able to implement Clerk as a customer and empathize deeply with people building SaaS products, particularly front-end and the JS/TS market
Talented communicator and writer who understands the value of explaining complex topics simply
Previous experiences that required filling gaps on a team, such as being an ex-founder or a driving force on a team that needed leadership
Customer obsessed; don’t overvalue own ideas if they don’t make customer’s lives easier
Believe in solving real customer problems, even if it means making tradeoffs behind the scenes
Passionate about building for other engineers and obsess over making their experience better
Care about craft in all its forms, such as product constraints, design polish, and engineering execution
Love working on products you use yourself

Responsibilities

Collaborate with customers and teammates as part of a world-class product delivery team that cares deeply about customer needs and the value of constant iteration; practice good communication habits in a fully remote environment
Execute work iteratively and reduce the time between feedback cycles
Thrive in a dynamic environment by working through customer’s problems directly rather than predefined steps
Be Customer 0: solve internal projects that likely become functionality released to customers
Be technical: as technical as the customers served (engineers)
Embrace a culture of craft by focusing on engineering quality, writing maintainable, performant, and well-structured code
Work on bringing new functionality to the Clerk platform, specifically the Billing product
Work on nimble teams and connect directly with customers to define and execute functionality that developers love and support builders launching and growing their businesses
