Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a product designer, with strong work examples demonstrating design excellence and systems thinking
  • Experience successfully leading designers, and establishing design standards and practices that elevate quality across teams
  • Worked in empowered, cross-functional product teams, leading continuous discovery habits and balancing fast learning with quality design
  • Experience designing complex systems with multiple user types, interconnected workflows, and nuanced data constraints
  • Apply first principles thinking to distill complex problems to their core, avoiding unnecessary complexity and finding elegant, simple solutions
  • Experienced well-functioning design systems and practices at scale, and know how to adapt and implement them in fast-moving, evolving product environments
  • Unbounded curiosity about the future of human health and the role clinical trials play in it

Responsibilities

  • Establish and elevate the design practice that powers the next generation of clinical trials
  • Spend most of time hands-on designing solutions while building the design team, processes, and standards that will scale impact
  • Maintain a high bar for design quality
  • Coach designers to excellence
  • Establish the patterns and systems that ensure consistency across the growing product
  • Work directly with the VP of Product and collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to bring thoughtful, simple solutions to complex problems
  • In first month: Learn about problems in clinical trials through onboarding and company conversations
  • In first month: Build relationships with the design team and understand their strengths, working styles, and growth areas
  • In first month: Immerse in the product by using it, observing real trials, and understanding user workflows and pain points
  • In first month: Audit the current state of design, review recent work, explore the design system, and identify quality gaps
