Requirements

  • Registered Nurse licensure
  • Competency in standard nursing techniques for pre, during, and post-procedure care
  • Knowledge of regulatory, accrediting body requirements, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices
  • Ability to maintain medical records, comply with data collection/auditing, and ensure environmental integrity/safety
  • Skills in patient assessment, medical history taking, education, monitoring (including moderate sedation and contrast media), and addressing concerns
  • Proficiency in documentation, confirming orders/consents/lab work, and lab requisition handling
  • Competency in emergency procedures (e.g., CPR), medication/IV moderate sedation administration per physician orders and regulations
  • Ability to act as scrub technologist maintaining sterile technique
  • Skills in patient transport, point-of-care lab testing, and IV insertion per orders
  • Effective communication with physicians and participation in CQI meetings
  • Operation of facility equipment (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators, sterilizers, computers) safely and efficiently
  • Compliance with organization, company, federal, state, and local regulations

Responsibilities

  • Support organization mission, vision, core values, compliance program, and customer service philosophy
  • Provide direct nursing care pre, during, and post-procedure under direction of Facility Manager, Director of Nursing, and/or Charge RN to assist physician in optimal patient outcomes
  • Drive quality standards by meeting regulatory/accrediting requirements, implementing CQI tools/action plans, addressing adverse events, and ensuring policy/procedure adherence
  • Maintain integrity of medical/administrative records and comply with data/auditing activities
  • Obtain medical history, discuss procedures, answer questions, perform nursing assessments, provide post-procedure education, and monitor patients for complications
  • Act as patient resource, communicate issues to management, and complete accurate admission-to-discharge documentation
  • Confirm written orders, consents, lab work; prepare/deliver lab requisitions; report results to physicians
  • Administer medications/IV moderate sedation, perform point-of-care testing, IV insertions, and additional physician-designated tasks per regulations
  • Assist physician during procedures as scrub technologist, transport patients, and initiate emergency measures as needed
  • Provide regular communication with physicians, participate in CQI meetings, assist with instrument/equipment verification, and report adverse events
  • Operate, inspect, and report malfunctions/maintenance needs for facility equipment/technology
