Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired; ideal candidate has MS or PhD in human behavior-related field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Information Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics) or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Certification required in some areas
  • Knowledge and experience with applied qualitative and quantitative research methods (generative, formative, evaluative), including contextual inquiry, cognitive walkthroughs, ethnographic research, usability testing, card sorting, experimental design, A/B testing, parametric/non-parametric statistical tests, and persona/archetype development
  • Knowledge and/or experience in data analytics and machine learning (a plus)
  • Critical thinker with a product mindset: ability to wrangle complex problems, find clarity and simplicity, think strategically about design challenges, and create holistic, compelling products
  • Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills; ability to tell compelling stories about work to partners and team members
  • Office presence minimum 5 days per week; no relocation offered

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive research plans and methodologies to gather user insights for high-level design and product decisions
  • Analyze and interpret complex research data to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights; compile findings into strategic reports and presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, product managers, developers) to integrate research findings into design and development; influence strategic decision-making
  • Create detailed user personas, journey maps, and research artifacts (insight briefs, affinity diagrams, usability reports) based on research data
  • Continuously iterate on research methods and processes; maintain repository of findings; stay current with UX research methodologies, tools, and trends; champion user-centered design principles and ethical practices
  • Lead critical, high-impact projects; design/implement innovative business strategies; work with minimal oversight; consult senior leadership and influence executive decisions; mentor others
