Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, with 7-10 years of experience in Software Engineering and a strong Java development background. Proficiency in advanced Java 11+ with deep understanding of JVM internals and the Spring Framework ecosystem is essential. Experience with microservices architecture, Java concurrency, and at least two front-end programming languages/frameworks such as JavaScript/TypeScript and React is required. AWS certifications like AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate, or Solutions Architect Associate/Professional are preferred. A strong understanding of information security best practices and secure design for Java applications, along with Java performance tuning, is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Principal Software Engineer will design, develop, and deploy cloud-based applications using Java-centric architectures, providing technical leadership and innovative cloud solutions. Responsibilities include architecting, maintaining, and operationalizing cloud-based web applications, designing new software solutions for critical business needs, and setting architectural direction for Java-based projects. They will evaluate, test, design, develop, and integrate new cloud technologies, lead large feature releases, and independently manage the entire lifecycle of features from design through deployment. This role involves supporting and maintaining existing Java software functionality, improving application maintainability and performance through refactoring and optimization, and building/deploying CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with Effectual and client leadership, engaging with individual contributors, reviewing technical design documentation, and creating proper documentation for software are also key duties. The engineer will also identify and evangelize long-term technical direction for teams and projects.
