Requirements

Candidates should possess a BS, MS, or PhD degree in computer science or a related field. They must have experience with training and deploying Deep Learning models, as well as with production Machine Learning pipelines including dataset creation and training frameworks. Fluency in C++ or fluency in Python with a basic understanding of C++ is required, along with extensive experience in programming and algorithm design. Strong mathematics skills are necessary, and candidates should have at least 10 years of experience. Bonus qualifications include conference or journal publications in Machine Learning or Robotics and prior experience with Prediction and/or autonomous vehicles or robotics in general.

Responsibilities

The Principal ML Engineer will develop new algorithms to model the future behavior of vehicles, predicting driving trajectories and estimating their quality in relation to safety, progress, and comfort. They will build foundational models for on-vehicle and offline applications, and develop algorithms that apply generative deep learning to simulation for improved realism in validation systems. The role involves leveraging large-scale machine learning infrastructure to discover new solutions, providing technical mentorship to ML developers at Zoox, and collaborating with engineers on Perception, Planning, and Simulation to address the overall Autonomous Driving problem in complex urban environments.
