Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Cloud based Web applications in a financial services environment
  • Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Cloud based Web applications in a financial services environment
  • Develops full-stack Web applications using Angular, JavaScript, Java/J2EE, and Node.js
  • Manages and administers SQL and NoSQL databases including MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Builds, tests, and deploys secure, high-performance applications using CI/CD pipelines, SonarQube, Veracode, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Elastic Kubernetes Services (EKS), Terraform, and CloudFormation
  • Designs and maintains RESTful APIs with Swagger and GitHub Pipelines, and monitors system performance with Datadog
  • Develops asynchronous, event-driven applications using Kafka and follows Cloud security best practices with encryption and secure protocols
  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing enterprise Cloud-based security solutions using AWS compute services -- EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda functions, Step Functions, IAM, and Auto-scaling groups; integrating build processes according to CI using Jenkins (as a CI platform); and deploying REST microservice applications on Docker containers
  • DE re-platforming and migrating legacy monolithic applications to Cloud deployable services, using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Core, and PL/SQL; and managing Kubernetes orchestration using Helm chart and Rancher interface, including Pod autoscaling, analyzing container and Datadog logs, managing ingress/container certificates in Venafi, disaster recovery, and rollback strategies
  • DE developing and building projects in Java and Python and delivering high impact automation solutions, using AWS Cloud Formation, Terraform, and Jenkins, aimed to reduce redundant and manual operational tasks, including system health checks, deployment verifications, log analysis and Cloud resource provisioning
  • DE monitoring and maintaining the operational stability of application services within AWS, Azure, Cloud development, and quality assurance production environments; and creating custom dashboards and metrics for EKS platforms to identify and remediate issues, using Datadog

Responsibilities

  • Develops and modernizes business critical Cloud-technology platforms
  • Reviews existing cloud-based applications and makes recommendations of any technological enhancements to improve application’s performance or security
  • Performs technology lifecycle management (TLM) needed in a timely manner
  • Designs and develops the platform to serve a vast variety of application requirements
  • Ensures platform configuration needs are met on a real-time basis
  • Responds to errors and risks during large-scale migrations and provide technical support
  • Establishes the application security measures for different tiers of applications that will be onboarded to the platform
  • Mentors junior engineers in all areas related to cloud-based application development and support
  • Ensures application resiliency is up to current standards and executes applicable tests needed to confirm applications can recover in a timely manner in the event of a disaster recovery effort
  • Architects new components, creates developments plans, and runs development activities
  • Creates, updates, and curates roadmaps for platform development activities based on application requirements from business units
