Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • Expertise in developing and applying computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories, and research techniques
  • Ability to assess architecture and hardware limitations
  • Proficiency in planning technical projects for CAD software design and development
  • Skills in defining and selecting new approaches and implementations for CAD software engineering applications, design specifications, and parameters
  • Experience developing routines and utility programs
  • Capability to prepare design specifications, analysis, and recommendations
  • Knowledge of specifying materials, equipment, supplies, and evaluating vendor capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Develops and applies computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems
  • Assesses architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software
  • Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters
  • Develops routines and utility programs
  • Prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations for presentation and approval
  • Specifies materials, equipment, and supplies required for completion of projects and evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • Formulates, delivers, and/or manages projects assigned and works with stakeholders to achieve desired results
  • Acts as a mentor to colleagues or directs the work of lower level professionals
  • Manages large projects or processes, coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower level specialists
  • Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy
  • Develops solutions to moderately complex problems and makes moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products
  • Represents organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Negotiates with others to reach understanding or agreement and influences decision-making
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area
