Requirements

  • Understanding of key engineering principles to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve them effectively
  • Ability to perform, review, or approve engineering calculations for pressure vessels, piping, equipment modifications, and fitness for service evaluations
  • Experience in equipment inspection, repair, and maintenance activities
  • Capability to develop technical specifications, review mechanical strength calculations, and fabrication drawings
  • Willingness to travel to sites for retrieving design data, supporting execution, plant outages, and shutdowns
  • Knowledge of pressure system equipment including Pressure Vessels, Columns, Heat Exchangers, Fired Equipment, Storage Tanks, Piping, and Safety Relief Devices
  • Ability to interface with operations, maintenance, engineering, metallurgy, and 3rd party engineering firms

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on piping, vessel, and heat exchanger systems to support continued plant operation, focusing on safety, compliance, reliability, and availability
  • Develop Mechanical Integrity Program for periodic inspections, assessing deterioration and failure mechanisms, developing inspection strategies, and liaising with local authorities
  • Perform, review, or approve engineering calculations and work with AP Engineering Organization and 3rd party contractors for design changes to pressure vessels and piping
  • Perform, review, or approve engineering calculations and work with AP Engineering Organization for equipment modifications and fitness for service evaluations
  • Provide design engineering support for Pressure System equipment, including development of technical specifications, review of mechanical strength calculations, and fabrication drawings
  • Develop repair procedures and inspection/test plans for inspection, modifications, repairs, fabrication, and installation of pressure equipment
  • Resolve inspection findings to support plant availability while achieving regulatory compliance and maintaining safety
  • Perform end of life assessments and failure investigations, resolve issues with pressure systems equipment, participate in root cause investigations, and implement recommendations and corrective actions
  • Recommend and provide guidance on existing and new inspection technologies (e.g., Advanced Ultrasonics, Shear Wave, Eddy Current, Acoustic Emissions, drone use) to enhance mechanical integrity
  • Ensure safe, regulatory compliant, efficient, and reliable operation of pressure systems equipment
  • Work closely with other Pressure Systems Engineers, Inspectors, Plant Management, and Maintenance teams
