Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License upon hire
  • Journeyman Plumber (State) - South Dakota Plumbing Commission within 120 days
  • Journeyman Plumber (Municipality) - Licensing Board within 120 days
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Understanding of current plumbing codes
  • Knowledge of plumbing system layouts, including isolation valves and shutoffs
  • Ability to work specified hours: Monday-Friday 2:45pm-11:15pm, 80 hours biweekly, weekend rotation (2 weekends on, 3 off)

Responsibilities

  • Perform general, mechanical, and preventative maintenance duties, including inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities
  • Provide plumbing services and general maintenance duties
  • Work with special systems (sprinklers, medical gases, natural gas), including repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications
  • Monitor work orders, prioritize work, and complete work order duties
  • Complete maintenance rounds, logs, and records according to preventive maintenance plan
  • Operate brazing/soldering/welding equipment
  • Monitor the activities of outside plumbing contractors
  • Keep contract plumbers informed of all plumbing work performed for final inspection and approval (applicable to Journeyman only)
