Responsibilities

  • Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations, restocking and replenishing medication, reporting low stock levels, ensuring stock rotation on a first-in first-out basis, performing inventory cycle counts, assisting with physical counts, creating reports using inventory information systems, and monitoring prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals
  • Supports facility with reporting and paperwork by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data on systems and forms, processing and submitting paperwork, creating and maintaining documentation (e.g., files, manuals, forms, records, supplies, communications), identifying and resolving discrepancies in records or files, preparing reports of pharmacy activities and inventory (e.g., state board mandated testing of counting devices), and informing management about incorrect or inefficient processes and improper service procedures
  • Assists in fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions under pharmacist supervision by using scanner to identify and select pharmaceutical product and quantity, verifying size and strength, verifying display for pack and quantity, entering expiration date and lot numbers, labeling prescriptions, weighing medication for accuracy, counting or pouring medication, preparing packages, distributing medications, and replenishing automated counting machines
  • Maintains pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting pharmacist in prescription fulfillment, maintaining pharmacy and merchandise, stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies, handling claims and returns, completing/maintaining/securing paperwork and documentation, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory by utilizing automated inventory control scanner and system, ensuring timely delivery and stocking, documenting inventory control procedures (e.g., product strategies, discrepancies, auditing, testing pill cell performance), managing pill cell information database, troubleshooting pill cell issues, identifying/discarding hazardous waste, processing recalled/expired pharmaceuticals, and disposing/processing returns of outdated stock
  • Maintains pharmacy systems and technology (e.g., inventory systems, automated counting machines) by preparing records and reports, monitoring inventory levels and expiration dates, calibrating machines, applying settings to minimize breakage, ensuring continuous replenishment using computer/scanner, and troubleshooting issues (e.g., jamming)
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards by implementing action plans and applying them in business processes
