Requirements

3rd year Pharmacy Intern (enrolled in pharmacy school, applying didactic learning to real-world practice)
Ability to work under the direction of a preceptor and complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), activities, and time with district leaders
Knowledge of pharmacy workflow procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication
Ability to demonstrate empathy, genuine care, and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture
Permitted by state regulation to take telephonic prescriptions, call prescribers for clarifications, and offer counseling/field medical questions under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
Capable of performing basic inventory activities as permitted by law

Responsibilities

Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment, and caring service exceeding patient expectations
Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health
Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: create personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, phone; offer immunizations/services at register/phone; solve/escalate patient problems compassionately
Offer counseling, field medical questions, solicit patient medical history for optimal care, under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes, where allowed by state regulation
Maintain high self-awareness and provide in-the-moment coaching, training, mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices
Complete basic inventory activities (e.g., putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories), as directed by pharmacy leadership and permitted by law
Gain hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations through training roadmap
