Payroll Manager - APAC (Japan Focus)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and manage payroll processes for multiple countries in the APAC region, with a primary focus on Japan. This is a full-time, remote position.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll management, with a focus on the APAC region.
  • Previous experience with payroll in APAC is essential.
  • Strong understanding of international payroll practices and regulations.
  • Experience managing a team of payroll professionals.
  • Proficient in using payroll and HRIS software, with the ability to analyze and interpret payroll and HR data (Workday and ADP GlobalView and Celergo preferred).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with local and regional HR teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources or a similar function.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee payroll processes for multiple countries in the APAC region, with primary focus on Japan.
  • Extensive knowledge of local labor laws, regulations, and best practices related to payroll and compensation & benefits administration.
  • Review and maintain payroll records and reports.
  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline payroll processes.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure payroll systems are optimized for efficiency.
  • Lead audit requests for countries under the role’s responsibility.
  • Lead payroll implementation projects for countries in APAC under the role’s responsibility.
